Buggy hinges cause injury to children

Buggies are a necessity for parents with small children. However, buggy manufacturer, MacLarens has recalled one million pushchairs in the USA after 12 children had their fingertips cut off. These accidents happened when the child's finger was caught in the hinge as the buggy was unfolded.

The buggies have not been recalled in the UK although, following complaints from British parents, MacLarens advise that a protective hinge cover is available free of charge. They have also updated their operating instructions and placedwarning labels on the buggies.

The models that have the suspect folding mechanism are the Volo, Triumph, Quest Sport, Quest Mod, Techno XT, Techno XLR, Twin Triumph, Twin Techno and Easy Traveller.

If your child has been injured as a result of a faulty buggy, find out if you have a claim for compensation on a No Win, No Fee basis by completing our online form or contacting one of our solicitors on 0800 731 8434.
